To give a hands on experience of Plants, Little Goenkans were taken to a nearby plant nursery on Monday, 29/07/2019. The objective of the activity was to inculcate the love for the environment and to relish the beauty of nature. Children observed and explored variety of shrubs, cactus, creepers, herbs palm, fruits, and colorful flowers and eagerly interacted with the gardener. They were curious to know about the surrounding and were excited to see the pots of varying shapes and sizes. It was told to them that fertilizers and manure are required for plant growth. The little learners were responsible and refrained themselves from touching the plants and plucking leaves or flowers as instructed to them. This field trip sensitized the students towards caring for the environment and the importance of planting more trees.
Wimco Seedlings is a premier industry which produces and supplies quality planting material of commercial use to the farming community . It holds the badge of promoting agroforestry in the country which not only has economical and social impact on the lives of people but also has ecological significance to the local ecosystem and environment as a whole. Goenkans were taken to Wimco Seedlings for a visit to show them how the planting materials are produced and what is their importance. Mr. Rajesh Jha. Manager(Marketing) and Mr. D K Mishra(Manager-HR) helped our students in understanding the importance of Seedlings.
The students of Nursery learnt about fruits in a unique and healthy way. Little Goenkans were taken to Saawan fruit shop where they were told importance of various fruits and how we purchase them.
Classroom is the best place where a child can learn, share and grow together and it's even better when classroom becomes an outlet for the child's creativity . Students learn through their participation in the attainment of knowledge by gathering information and processing it by solving problems and articulating what they have discovered. Each activity provides students with opportunities to deepen their learning by applying concepts and articulating new knowledge. So, our little Goenkans are taught by inculcating activities in their day to day learning process.
The students of G D Goenka Public School had a propitious visit to the Parle and Britannia Biscuit Factory at Sidcul . The children were very excited on the bus ride from the school to the factory. On entering the premises, the students were taken to the auditorium where they enjoyed a documentary related to the origin of the brand ‘PARLE’, its founder and various products manufactured by Parle. Soon after, an official took the students to the manufacturing unit, where students were apprised on the various processes like kneading, mixing, shaping, baking, cooling to the final stage of packing. The students were also shown the printing section. Then a questionnaire session was conducted wherein the students also satiated their queries. Students were given biscuits from the officials of Parle and Britanna prior to departure. Overall, it was an informative, knowledgeable and memorable trip for the students, The children had many stories to tell when they got back to school!
Raksha Bandhan is a special occasion to celebrate the virtuous bond of love between a brother and a sister which is one of the deepest and noblest of all human emotions. A rakhi making activity was organized for the students of Pre Nursery to I . Children learnt to make beautiful and colourful rakhi’s using simple household materials like ribbons, sequins etc.
On August 15, 1947, India got her freedom and finally broke from the shackles of slavery. Our school celebrated this auspicious day with great enthusiasm and proudness on 15th August 2019. Every student contributed towards its preparations and the celebration began with flag hoisting followed by marching. For this programme, the Chairman, Managing Directors and Principal of our school was the chief guest and hoisted the flag at school at 9 AM. All the staff members and students saluted towards the flag. Then the cultural program began by reciting of poetic songs and poem.
